Nuclear Medicine is a technology that enables our radiologist to easily diagnose stress fractures and bone infections, evaluate organ functions and identify cancerous abnormalities. Nuclear medicine imaging techniques give doctors another way to look inside the human body. These techniques combine the use of computers, detectors and radioactive substances.
Nuclear medicine imaging is useful for detecting:
• Tumors
• Irregular or inadequate blood flow to various tissues
• Blood cell disorders and inadequate functioning of organs,
such as thyroid and kidney disorders


A Nuclear Cardiac Stress test allows the radiologist to determine that the heart is receiving enough blood flow from its own arteries to work safely. Your referring physician will decide the need for a nuclear cardiac stress test. Some common reasons are:
• To evaluate complaints of chest pain
• To visualize blockages in the coronary arteries
• To identify irregular heart rhythm
• To measure the strength of your heart after a heart attack or surgery
• Pre-Operative risk assessment to prevent heart attacks during surgery

In addition to the nuclear images, our advanced cardiac software allows our radiologist to visualize the wall motion and ejection fraction of the heart.
